Update number 2! New Faces

I'm starting a whole new post for this one, because there are some folks I'd like to welcome and I don't want their hellos to be drowned under a lot of other things. So, without further ado…

Welcome to my garden, Rune!

Rune is a Desert Rose. I named this one after him for a few reasons. 1) It has a simple flower when it blooms, but you can’t help but see it when it does. 2) It doesn’t need a lot of TLC. Just a little water now and then and someone to tell him he’s beautiful today. 3) He’s attractive to the aphids (which is why I think they’re not eating the roses this year…) and they flock to him whenever there’s a chance of a bloom coming up. *smiles* Since Rune’s DM habit can be fixed in a visit or two every so often and the girls flock to his side when he makes one of his rare appearances… *smiles* It seems rather appropriate!

Welcome to my garden, Mystica!

Mystica is an old fashions Bleeding Heart. I was looking for something that fit her and I think this one suits her perfectly. I’ve loved these flowers for a while, now, and am honestly shocked these are growing. I’ve held off naming them until I was sure I could get her to stay happy and not die on me. She’s a climber, never happy with staying along the ground of the garden and always reaching towards the sun. She’ll curl around anytahing she can get a handle on, to the point that some older gardeners consider her a weed. They’re just not looking at the beauty that is my sister, though. For when she blooms, she sheds her love to the world in a line of graceful hearts, dripping with pain for those who walk in the world around her. For those of you who really know Mystica, you’ll agree, I think, that this flower is perfect for her. Some may consider her a weed because they don’t understand her and it’s not until she blooms that they realize what a treasure she really is. Welcome to my garden, sister. Feel free to bloom here. *hugs*

Update for today... lots of faces appearing and a few new ones, too!

Spring is officially here, says my garden! I finally got out at the beginning of May to get my stock of new bulbs in the ground and my efforts have not been in vain! It's always nice to see plants growing. Makes you feel good when you've taken care of them well enough that they rise up and smile at you, doesn't it?

Ah, well, this one's going to be a long one, so let me get started!

First up, a rose bush that I have complained about and fretted over since we moved here is blooming! No aphids to eat it up, this year! Whoo-hoo!

Next up is an update from a few familiar faces.
Welcome back to Ursula, who is always a commanding presence. Even when I ignore her for years, she still greets me when I walk outside!

Next up is Loraine, who is my favorite flower. Not because I named her after my character, but because I love calla lilies! :D She’ll start blooming next month, but she’s already sporting some lovely foliage!

And then Kynwric. Remember I told you that he died on me and I bought new bulbs because I refuse to let him slip through my fingers? *smiles* I told you I’d win! Here he is again! This picture was taken at the beginning of the month when just one little shoot from my new bulbs had appeared. I’m pleased to report that this guy is getting HUGE already and that his brother is sporting 5 shoots and working on catching up quickly! *smiles*

And then there’s Paetric, who is as succulent as ever! He’s nearly outgrowing this pot, so he may need a new place to live soon. He’s not showing any signs of slowing down in his growing pattern, though!

Here’s Anders, who doesn’t seem particularly happy in his new pot. *sighs* Persnickety little fella! I’m going to have to figure out why he’s not happy and get him turned around quick! Purple is just not his color!

And here’s Alexandra. This is a night blooming crocus that bloomed the week after we came home from the hospital. *smiles* How could I name it anything else after that?

OK, I think that’s everyone you’ve already met. I’ll post another entry for the new faces in my garden. *smiles* I’m very pleased to see them!
